It’s just about time to wrap up 2015 and put a bow on it. Before you do that, it’s time for a little self-reflection. It’s easy to focus on year end deadlines and quotas before enjoying the holiday festivities, but spend some time evaluating where you are at in your career overall. Whether you are right on track for your personal career plans, ahead, or behind, take time to assess your successes and areas for improvement.
A quote from Paul Coelho is appropriate this time of year – “You drown not by falling into a river, but by staying submerged in it.”
Below is a list of things to take into consideration as you evaluate your year.
- Compensation. Did I make the money I expected and wanted to earn this year?
- Fulfillment. Do I have a passion for what I do, day in and day out?
- Team. Am I surrounded by people who cohesively challenge each other to strive for greatness?
- Organization. Am I aligned with an organization that has the necessary tools to outperform its competitors?
- Self-Improvement. What did I learn in 2015 that will make me better in 2016?
- Goals. How will my 2016 achievements differ from 2015?
I’ll leave you with one quote that may delight a certain amount of the viewing audience.
“Do or do not. There is no try.” – Yoda
