For some travel nursing professionals, sleep may be hard to come by. But not only can sleep deprivation take a toll on a your health, but it may spell trouble for your patients.
That’s why it’s essential to get a full night’s rest. To do so, first make sleep a priority, just like diet and exercise.
Second, try to unplug at least a half hour before bedtime and charge your phone in a separate room if it becomes a distraction.
Using light to your advantage is another trick. Light is the most powerful zeitgeber, or influencer of the body’s circadian clock. So, make sure you sleep in a pitch-black bedroom at night, and when you wake up, open the blinds or go outside to cue your biological clock.
Lastly, eliminate noise with earplugs, a fan or white noise machine.
