When I think of the state of Arizona the first thing that comes to mind is the Grand Canyon. Although very impressive in its own right, the state offers so much more to explore! Hidden throughout the state you can find the remnants of ancient pueblo societies, historic ghost towns once booming in the Wild West, and lots of outdoor activities including golfing, hiking, lakes, canyons, and much more.
In my opinion, Arizona offers many must see attractions that are not well known. If you make the trip, be sure to check out some of these beautiful sites: Havasu Falls, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Sedona, Monument Valley, The Petrified Forest Nation Park, The Hoover Dam, Saguaro Nation Park, and of course don’t miss the original London Bridge, now located in Lake Havasu, AZ!
Don’t just pack your shorts for the winter. In Arizona you can enjoy the gorgeous temps in Phoenix or head two hours north to Flagstaff where you can go skiing or snowboarding in the Snowbowl. The highest peak in the state is located here, sitting more than 12,000 feet above sea level. Bundle up…it gets cold!
Being outdoors isn’t your cup of tea? No need to worry because Phoenix offers some of the most luxurious and highly rated spas in all of the U.S., not to mention, some of the best shopping and dining a person could ask for. Your dining doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg either. Hit up one of local eateries and enjoy great food at a reasonable price! Even better, check out my favorite taco spot during happy hour (Cien Agaves located in Old Towne Scottsdale) and keep your wallet happy. You won’t be disappointed. Sports fanatic? You’re in luck; AZ has teams in the NFL, NHL, NBA, and three in the NCAA Division I program.
If the attractions haven’t hooked you yet, rest assured knowing AZ boasts some of the most traveler friendly hospitals nationwide. Year after year snow birds flock down to escape the cold weather. Hospitals ramp up for the busy season in AZ due to the increased population. Travelers are nothing new to this area and hospitals will treat you right.
Another great thing…the hospitals are currently interviewing for October and November start dates. The interviews are happening quickly, too! Get an interview in 24-48 hours from the time of submission. Arizona is a compact state and is also a fairly quick one to obtain if needed.
So I ask…why wouldn’t you visit this “Oasis in the Desert”?
