Central Michigan healthcare opportunities projected to rapidly grow

The 10-year period leading up to 2020 is forecast to see employment for medical careers increase by as much as 14 percent, according to a published report.

Personal care assistants, medical retail sales, home health aides and registered nurses are projected to see the creation of roughly 500,000 new jobs apiece, according to The Lansing State Journal. The Central Michigan region is projected to see gains in the healthcare industry advance roughly 18 percent through 2018.

That increase more than triples the anticipated growth rate of all jobs in the regions surrounding Lansing.

Director Julianne Rose with the Capital Healthcare and Employment Council noted that experiential learning might prove to be beneficial to people looking to get into the field. While studying course material that is important for gainful employment within the healthcare industry, people also should look to experience the industry with hands-on training, she said.
