A newly opened facility in a central North Carolina town is helping children aim as high as they possibly can, according to a published report.
The Pediatric Rehabilitation Center of the Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville is staffed by people who hold speech, occupational and physical therapy jobs, The Mooresville Tribune reports. Having opened for business in late July, the facility is staffed by seven therapists and business is booming.
"It flows together as one cohesive therapy when we can see from their chart what they've been working on, what their motivation is and what they're working toward," occupational therapist Jessye Zahn told the news source. "For example, I can incorporate some of the things the kids have been learning in speech therapy into my work and it's helpful for the kids to have that tied together."
Town resident Melissa Beck said she can see the fruits of the labor of her 2-year-old son Carson, who has been working on articulation with a speech therapist.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, physical therapists aid patients' recoveries from injuries and illnesses while also helping to manage pain.
