Minimizing stress during the holidays

It’s November, which means the holidays are approaching and so is the season of being surrounded by loved ones and memories. It can also be the season of feeling stressed and overeating. Being on the road can be difficult when trying to avoid those two but focusing on yourself is the best way to overcome it all.

How does one focus on themselves though? Well, I’ve compiled a list of great resources to help you do just that!

  1. Meal Prep: Eating healthy is a great way to focus on yourself because it can help you feel refreshed and at ease knowing you ate something great for you! Try setting aside at least one night a week to cook for the week. My personal favorite is the Chicken Fajita Bowl with brown rice. It’s easy to prepare as you can cook the veggies and chicken in bulk with any seasoning you prefer, but more importantly, it tastes great!
  2.  Working Out: The holidays are great because of the food but if not careful, it can sneak up on you. Try taking a 5 minute break every hour throughout the work day to simply walk the stairs or the hallways to keep your body active and your mind at ease. Although it can be hard to be motivated after work, try setting personal goals such as working out 2 days a week or running 3-5 miles a week, that way it does not stress you out but instead pushes you to do something. Setting realistic goals in the beginning is key to achieving success and once you hit those goals, begin raising them.
  3. Take Time for You: This may be the most obvious tip but also the most difficult one to achieve. Life is crazy and there is always something to do, but taking a few minutes to walk outside and take in the sights or pick up your favorite book is a great way to stay relaxed and at peace. The life of a traveler is very hectic so mastering the art of taking time for YOU is extremely important.

Never settle for anything less when it comes to your health and wellbeing! Focus on yourself and keep your mind and body healthy and this holiday season will truly be an amazing one!
