A special tape has proven to be beneficial for people who hold physical therapy jobs and their patients, according to a published report.
This past July and August's Olympic Games in London prominently featured the brightly colored tape on athletes' bodies, The Fort Leavenworth Lamp reports. Developed by a Japanese chiropractor in the late 1970s, the tape has a strong supporter at the physical therapy department at the Munson Army Health Center in Kansas.
"I have always been into sports taping and sports medicine," Staff Sergeant William Seeley told the news source. "So when I saw we had some of the tape in the closet, but no one was using it, I looked into it and asked the command about using here."
The noncommissioned officer said pre-cut pieces of the tape are more simple to use and capitalize on. He noted the pre-cut samples are most simple and most effective for training staff members on the correct usage of the tape.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, physical therapists help people recover from injuries while also aiding with the management of pain.
