There are many resources available for travelers preparing for their first travel assignment, but after you complete your assignment, what’s next? Here are some tips to successfully transition to your next position.
Get rest and recharge!
Traveling can be exhausting. After completing an assignment in a new facility, with new friends, lessons learned, and sights you have seen it’s safe to say you earned a break! Not to mention the whole “traveling across the country part.” Take some time off to recharge and reflect as you gear up for your next position. It’s important to rest up and take care of yourself between assignments so you can be at your best for your next venture. Last but certainly not least, you will have the opportunity to spend some quality time with your family and friends.
Stay organized!
This is a perfect time to update your resume and add your most recent travel assignment. After completing a few assignments, you will learn it is easier to keep your information updated as you complete each assignment vs waiting. Items worth noting on your resume include the start and end date, facility, city and state, job title, software systems used, and the name of the company you traveled with. This is also a good time to verify that your licenses and certifications and all other documents needed for your next position are all up to date. Staying on top of this information will ensure you are prepared.
Talk to your recruiter!
Whether you are taking a couple of weeks off or jumping right into your next assignment, it is crucial to keep in touch with your recruiter. Let them know what goals you have in mind for your next contract or permanent position. Trust me, they’ll want to hear it! Communication is key before, during, and between assignments!
