Nursing demand likely to begin again, experts say

The slowdown of hiring of people with nursing jobs is not forecast to last long as the U.S. economy continues recovering, according to a published report.

The nursing shortage has ended in many U.S. regions though there remain pockets where the shortages continue, Nurse.com reports. An increase in demand for all levels of nurses is soon to manifest, according to two nursing workforce researchers.

"There’s a pile of demand coming at us," distinguished professor Peter I. Buerhaus with Vanderbilt University told the news source. "That's why it’s so important to keep the long-term focus going."

Some nurses are poised to leave the industry as the economy grows, others will reach retirement age, and others will help their aging children, according to analysts.

But more people will be eligible for healthcare as political reforms ensue and Baby Boomers will develop conditions that demand assistance.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, registered nurses assist patients and the public with information about health conditions while providing advice and additional aide to the patients, their families and additional loved ones.
