Prospects are high for physical therapist assistant jobs

Georgia students who are in pursuit of physical therapy jobs are forecast to encounter strong levels of success landing those coveted opportunities, according to an official at a suburban Atlanta technical school.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the fourth graduating class at Chattahoochee Technical College is set to march – toward both their certificates of completion as well as gainful employment as physical therapist assistants.

"Our students have had a 100 percent pass rate on their national licensure exam and a 100 percent employment rate. Most of them have multiple job offers as soon as they graduate," program director Stephanie Puffer told the news source. "Our whole purpose is to improve a patient’s function and movement, but the goals differ from patient to patient."

Physical therapist assistants work under the guidance of physical therapists and help patients regain range of motion following injuries, operations and illnesses, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

People who pursue physical therapist assistant opportunities are forecast to see job growth reach as high as 46 percent for the 10-year period leading up to 2020, according to the federal agency.
