You are on your third contract for the year and are stressing over moving…again. Packing and unpacking, only to do it again 13 weeks later! Being a traveler gives you the opportunity to see new places and things, but it also comes with the hassle of transporting yourself and your belongings across the country. Here are a few pointers to help keep you organized and save you time on each move:
Organize your medical records
After a few contracts, you will become familiar with what companies need for compliance. To help yourself and save time it is a good idea to get all of your medical documents in order. Try purchasing a collapsible folder so you can easily store your vaccines, TB records, and flu shots in. It won’t take up space and it will give you quick access to papers you know you will need, regardless of where you are.
Unload unnecessary items
Scented candles. Souvenir t-shirts. Old DVDs. All of these items may evoke nostalgia, but when car space is limited, it is imperative to lighten the load and keep only the things you need. Of course, keep the items you love, but be selective in what makes the cut. Not only will you have less clutter in your new temporary home, but you will also have less baggage to haul from contract to contract.
Invest in storage
Moving is no fun, but purchasing organizational storage bins will help make this a less tiresome process. There are tons of options available! Check out Target, the Container Store, and Walmart. Most of the bins are priced between $20 and $40 and the small investment will help with transporting all of your belongings. Some of the options available have locks, wheels, and other additions.
There are tons of tips and tricks you will learn along the way that will help make each transition from contract to contract go more smoothly. Have any great ideas that have worked for you? Feel free to add a comment below!
