Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la la la.
During the month of December, it’s easy to lose sight on the real reasons why it’s a magical time of year. Between the countless TV ads promoting the best gifts, social gatherings to attend, and delicious food to consume… we are all guilty of forgetting the true meaning of Christmas. The modern world’s version contributes to that. Unfortunately, what we must remember is that not everyone is as fortunate. Here at Aureus Medical, we are constantly reminded of the importance of helping those who are less advantageous. Our teams go above and beyond to give back to our surrounding communities in more ways than one. After all, isn’t that what having Christmas spirit is all about?
Throughout our company, each division comes together to volunteer and support a specific organization. We call ourselves “AurElves”. Clever, right? These organizations can vary. Examples include financially assisting families enduring hardship, providing resources to youth with foster care experience, or helping prepare/serve a meal to those coming to a shelter. In some cases, teams even take on additional tasks such as ringing bells for the Salvation Army in the blistering Nebraska cold. Not only is contributing rewarding, but it’ll also put in a good word with Santa!
Specifically, my team chose a group called “Angels Among Us”. Their mission is help families of children battling cancer by attempting to reduce the amount of stress in their lives so that they can focus more of their attention on their children. We adopted a local family of 8 who has a child battling cancer. Each of us is responsible for buying items that each member of the family is requesting whether it be a need or more of a want. We will hand wrap each item and personally deliver all the presents before the Christmas holiday approaches so they have something under the tree to look forward to.
This holiday season, please be reminded that you are blessed and look for ways you can help. Even the smallest undertaking, like throwing change into that bucket on your way into the grocery store or dropping off some canned goods at a pantry, can make the biggest difference! I can say I am truly honored to be working on behalf of such a great company that strives to not only help improve the lives of others during this specific time of year, but all year round. Stay tuned and look for pictures of our little AurElves at work. Merry Christmas!
