Career opportunities posted online for workers pursuing nursing jobs and other medical staffing positions increased in November, according to Fierce Healthcare.
Practitioners of healthcare were one of two groups of employees to see increases last month with the other one being technical workers, according to the Conference Board. Both combined to gain 23,300 online job postings, totaling 529,000.
“Looking at the 22 broad occupational categories over the 11 months of 2011, relatively few occupations have held their ground and posted gains,” said vice president June Shelp with The Conference Board. “The level of labor demand alone, however, does not tell the whole story. The difficulty of finding a job is a factor of not only the number of openings but also the number of people competing for the advertised position.”
The organization specifically pointed to increases in physical therapy jobs and occupational therapy jobs and it noted advertised vacancies outnumber job hunters by a ratio of 2.6 to 1.
Last month saw 506,600 job listings for practitioners of healthcare and occupations that were considered technical. Additional healthcare jobs that grew are speech-language pathologists and physician assistants.
