For a traveling nurse, packing before an assignment may generate a few gray hairs. Decisions about what to bring and not to bring can add a great deal of anxiety. Tech gadgets can be particularly frustrating for nurses who can’t decide which will provide the most use over the course of an assignment.
One possible gadget to consider is a smartphone, though the model depends on personal preference. A smartphone such as the iPhone or Android can assist a traveling nurse a great deal on the road. Many of these phones can download a variety of applications that can be personally tailored to meet individual tastes and specialized for different types of assignments. Applications popular with travel nurses include language translation, a GPS, personal organization/to-do lists and music. Smartphones also make it easy to check email and connect to friends and family.
Tablets or e-readers, such as the iPad, Nook and Kindle, provide many of the same elements a smartphone can but allows the user to enjoy a larger screen that’s better suited to extended periods of time spent browsing the internet, reading or watching movies.
Other technological supplies a traveling nurse may find useful are laptops, which are more portable and provide better mobility than desktop computers.
