Staying in touch with friends and family while on assignment has never been easier for a travel therapist. Social media, cell phones, instant messages and video conferencing – there are a host of possibilities to contact anyone.
However, a travel therapist may wish to take a step back once in a while and simply write a letter. It is a romanticized form of communication, rarely seen or experienced by many younger generations. A letter can be a beautiful thing to friends or family, relaying personal details or experiences that may be overlooked in a telephone conversation or text message.
Not only does a letter provide the opportunity to write out complete thoughts and feelings, but gives a loved one the thrill of receiving something other than a bill, magazine or junk mail from the U.S. Postal Service. A letter can act as a unique memento, to be saved and loved by the receiver when he or she may feel an ache to see or hear the sender.
Decades after the letters were written, family members can read those words and enjoy the experience of reading about an older generation’s experience traveling the country.
